Chloe Carson, CPDT-KA
Chloe Carson is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) and Fear Free Animal Trainer located in Kansas City, Missouri. Her love of animals started at an early age, as she spent most of her free time with her family’s various rescued cats and dogs. Although as a child she tried to hide her overly studious and sensitive nature, as an adult she has come to realize these traits are actually superpowers.
Chloe’s journey in dog training began in 2017 when her dog, Blue, began displaying aggressive tendencies after being rescued from outdoor living in rural Mississippi. After going through a behavior modification program with Chloe’s training mentor at the time, Blue received her Canine Good Citizen title from the AKC in 2018. In 2019, Chloe adopted a loving but fearful-reactive cat who flourished with the help of desensitization & safe space training. Since these formative experiences, Chloe has believed that every family pet deserves a second chance at a happy life.
In the next few years, Chloe continued learning about dogs in her work as a dog daycare attendant, at-home sitter, grooming assistant, and trainer. She attended online IAP College courses in business ownership for both pet sitting and dog daycare. In 2021, her dog grooming mentor opened her mind to the world of force free training. Since this pivotal moment, Chloe has expanded her knowledge with continuing education, including CPR & First Aid training, AKC S.A.F.E., ClickerExpo, L.E.G.S., the MET Conference, and various other continuing education credits. She is currently in the process of training her new demo dog, Miss Honey, who was discovered at a rescue in August 2025.
Chloe’s favorite breeds to work with are guardian and gun dog varieties, though she herself has two bully breeds at home. Her favorite types of behavior cases include barrier & leash reactivity, nuisance barking, overarousal, and separation distress. As a positive reinforcement trainer, Chloe knows the importance of learning in an environment that feels safe. She believes that dogs and people learn best when we can creatively solve problems without fear of making a mistake, and when we can celebrate successes together.
Today, Chloe’s main goal is to provide excellent service in the modification and prevention of reactive and aggressive dog behavior with the help of her amazing team of trainers. While the dog training industry is still unregulated in the United States, Chloe holds the Better Way team to a higher standard, selecting only trainers who are both credentialed and fiercely compassionate toward both animals and the people who love them.
Kayla Gilbert, CPDT-KA
Kayla Gilbert, CPDT-KA, has been working with dogs professionally since 2015. In addition to graduating from Bergin University of Canine Studies, Kayla is also certified in canine CPR from Pet Tech and CGC evaluation through the AKC. She has advanced her studies with Fear Free Pets, Karen Pryor Academy, leadership & management classes, scent work, and kennel management. Kayla has served as a Cognition Test Lead at Canine Companions, daycare management and obedience trainer at multiple facilities, and Prevention Specialist for a therapy dog program as well as at Bergin University. She has thrived in her roles as a “human trainer,” teaching humans how to excel at their work, whether they were grocery store employees or university students. Kayla deeply enjoys teaching & learning from children, veterans, and people who have disabilities. She believes a strong bond between humans and their dogs can bring a lifetime of joy and wellbeing. Because she is always on the lookout to “catch the dog being good,” Kayla has a fantastic ability to see the positive in every situation. In her free time, you can find Kayla playing board games or tennis, relaxing with her husband, or hanging out with her two rescue dogs Maia and Obie.
Rachel Provence, CPDT-KA
Rachel is a CPDT-KA certified positive reinforcement dog trainer & Fear Free shelter handler. She specializes in reactive and fearful dogs, especially those adopted from shelters. She also offers services in leash skills, mouthiness, and puppy training. Rachel has worked at two animal shelters on the behavior team and in the veterinary clinic and gained experience in cooperative care with a variety species at an exotic animal sanctuary. Her primary goal during lessons is to help you build a better relationship with your dog while achieving your training goals.
